Mat ball is similar to kickball, but instead of bases students have to jump onto large padded mats as they travel from base to base.

Some of our Sheldon High School art students had pieces of art that were selected to be part of the Dordt College Art Showcase. This was a juried show, meaning the pieces were judge to even get selected into the show. These pieces of art were on display for the month of March at Dordt College. Congratulations to Rachel Besaw, Sylvia Decker, Jess Baker, and Grace Gomez for having your art be selected to be part of the Art Showcase!

Sheldon High School students Rachel Beesaw, Emma Boone, Valerie Cook, Sadie Dietrick, and Olivia Prewitt attended the WISE Conference at Iowa State University last week.
Students attended four sessions throughout the day, heard two different ISU students share about their program and journey to where they are today. The students ended the day with a panel of ISU students, one of which was Sheldon's own, Lexie Merley! You might recognize Lexi Merley for her time on KTIV as an intern for the meteorology department.
Overall the girls had a great day learning more about women in science and the careers that are available. One highlight was that the Sheldon group won the STEM Trivia Kahoot game!

Our students in Spanish II are practicing their speaking skills by pretending to purchase items from a market.
Students were required to come up with a list of items that they needed to buy. Students then had to use the correct Spanish words to ask for specific items, question how much something they wanted costs, as well as pay for those items.
This was a great way for our students to practice a real life setting that they would have to use their Spanish speaking skills.

Some of our High School and Middle School students are competing in Ames at the Iowa State Science and Technology Fair today and tomorrow.

Arianna Iafoski and Alayna Myer competed at the Iowa FCCLA State Leadership Competition in the Hospitality, Tourism & Recreation category over the weekend.
They earned a “Gold” recognition on their project. This then qualified them for the National event to be held this summer in Denver, CO.

Five of our FFA students were invited to travel to Des Monies for the annual Iowa Corn Day on the Hill that took place today.
While there, they were able to witness the processes of lobbying, met with their O’Brien County Representative Zach Dieken and learn more about our state’s legislation.
