SILVER CORD AWARD PROGRAM

Sheldon High School would like to recognize students who give of their time to their school or community. Several high schools throughout the state of Iowa recognize their graduating seniors with this award. Students who volunteer 100 hours or more to their school or community, will be recognized at Awards Day and Graduation for this distinction.

Hours will be prorated for the current senior and junior classes by recognizing students who have earned the following volunteer hours:

  • Seniors - Class of 2024  - 70 hours

  • Juniors - Class of 2025 and beyond  - 100+ hours

Beginning with the Class of 2025, students will need 100+ hours of service for this distinction.

Hours must be pre-approved through guidelines prior to completion. For example, volunteer hours required by a class or a club, will not qualify as hours toward the Silver Cord Award. Hours toward the Silver Cord Award must truly be above and beyond. Please see Mrs. Bosma if you have any questions.

Volunteer hours must be submitted no later than MAY 1 of the senior year prior to Awards Day and Graduation.
