"Other Scholarships" are scholarships that are outside of our school district and area. The scholarships listed below may be National scholarships, scholarships offered to students who live in Iowa, and miscellaneous scholarships."
If you need a transcript for a scholarship application, please submit the online Transcript Request Form . If you would like to pick up your transcript from the Guidance Office, check the box, OR you can request a copy to be emailed to you.
REMEMBER YOUR RESUME SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS!
Tip for resumes: If you are involved in an activity such as FFA, don't just list your position in the organization, but also list the activities and the number of service hours you have put in with the organization. MOST scholarships are based on Community Service Hours.

Future Ready Iowa - Last-Dollar Scholarship
If you plan to earn a certificate, diploma or associate's degree to work in one of Iowa's high demand jobs, your tuition may be covered. If all other available state and federal financial aid falls short, the Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship will fill the gap.
You can use the Last-Dollar Scholarship at community colleges or accredited private colleges in Iowa that offer eligible programs of study. The list of programs is based on job demand and might change from year to year.

AUGUST
Prevention Magazine / No deadline. Essay submissions are accepted all year.
To qualify to win a $500 scholarship all you have to do is write an essay (600-800) words double spaced about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with abuse. It can be drugs/alcohol, mental or physical abuse. Scholarships are judged on your thesis statement, supporting content, grammar and punctuation. This scholarship recognizes and supports exceptional students who are overcoming the barriers of being the first in their families to attend college. P.E.O. STAR SCHOLARSHIP / Deadline to submit your application is September 15.
The P.E.O. STAR SCHOLARSHIP is a non-renewable $2,500 scholarship for women who excel in leadership, academics (minimum 3.0 GPA), extra-curricular activities and community service. To apply for this scholarship, a student must be recommended by a local P.E.O. Chapter (Sheldon, Chapter DU). If you are especially strong in community service and in the areas mentioned above, please submit your application to Mrs. Bosma.

Purpose: Support students pursuing a post-secondary degree in a health care related field.
Student Qualification Requirements:
Applicants should have an affiliation with a participating Sanford Network facility. (Examples include: employee, relative of an employee, community resident, patient, etc.)
Accepted into a healthcare program at an accredited, post-secondary institution.
Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater, calculated on a 4.0 grading scale.
The applicant must upload an official transcript of grades from their last completed semester of study. The transcript must show current grade point average.

Robert D. Blue Scholarship / Deadline to apply: May 10
The Robert D. Blue Scholarship, named after the former Iowa Governor, provides funds ranging from $500-$1,000 to Iowa students planning to attend an in-state college or university.
Students who demonstrate literary and scholastic ability, exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship; and display moral force of character and financial need are eligible to apply. Applicants for this scholarship can be current high school seniors or students already enrolled at an Iowa college or university.
Eligibility Criteria:

Attend or plan to attend an Iowa College or University
Applicants will be evaluated on the following:

Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) - Elevate Manufacturing Scholarship Program / May 15, 2024
Students planning to pursue a degree and career in advanced manufacturing are invited to apply for this scholarship. Fifteen (15) $500 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend an Iowa Community College in the fall of 2024.
Examples of eligible training programs include welding, computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining, industrial automation, robotics, tool and die and transportation and logistics. Each community college will be recognized.

Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest - Sponsored by Duck Brand Tape / Contest opens on March 29 - June 7.
Two (2) $10,000 cash scholarships will be awarded to high school students who make the best prom attire (One suit or dress) out of Duck Brand Duct Tape! Whether you attend Prom wearing your creation, or just create it at home, you can enter this scholarship. You must be at least 14 years of age to enter, and enrolled at a high school or home school. There will also be four (4) $500 runner up awards for the dress and suit categories.
Rules: Your suit or dress must be made completely from Duck Tape Brand Tape and/or Duck Brand Crafting Tape.
To enter: The contest is open for entries March 29-June 7. Take a high resolution pic of the moment and submit it along with the entry form by June 7. The judging period takes place June 14-21. Community voting period is June 28 - July 12.

IOWA PGA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - CHARLIE BURKART / APPLICATION DEADLINE: Application due on or prior to June 16
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students in furthering their education. At least one high school graduate will be the 2024 recipient of $1500 per year for four years.
Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf, the potential for future contributions to the game, leadership skills/community involvement, more then on your academic/professional ability and financial need.

SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH WARNING
When searching for scholarships on the internet, the Federal Trade Commission cautions students to look and listen for these tell-tale signs of scholarship scams:
"The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back."
"You can't get this information anywhere else."
"I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."
"We'll do the work. You just pay a processing fee."
The scholarship will cost some money.
"You've been selected by a national foundation to receive a scholarship" - or "You're a finalist" in a scholarship you never applied for.
