If you are involved in an activity such as FFA, don't just list your position in the organization, but also list the activities and the number of service hours you have put in with the organization. MOST scholarships are based on Community Service Hours.

NORTHWEST REC & BASIN ELECTRIC POWER COOPERATIVE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM / DEADLINE: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2022
Two (2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to dependent members of North West REC in the four districts of Ida, O'Brien, Plymouth and Sioux). The selection process includes a combination of SAT/ACT scores, overall gpa, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a personal statement of career goals, and a written reference. In addition, there will be several $500 and $250 scholarships awarded to applicants. Other requirements:

The Dream-National Scholarship is a scholarship program which is like a "Pell Grant" for highly motivated undocumented students with significant, unmet financial need. While your GPA and test scores are considered, greater emphasis is placed on your demonstrated commitment to community service and your ability to overcome the barriers and challenges that undocumented students face each day.
The National Scholarship Award will cover your tuition and fees up to a maximum of $16,500 for an associate degree and up to $33,000 for a bachelor's degree at one of the Partner Colleges. The award is renewable each year - you simply have to meet the continuing eligibility criteria.

College Board's Opportunity Scholarship program is open to all students, and it doesn't require an essay, application, or minimum GPA. It rewards students' efforts and initiative. The Iowa PGA Section annually awards a college scholarship in memory of Iowa golf Hall of Famer, Charlie Burkart, PGA member for 49 years. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students in furthering their education. At least one high school graduate will be the 2022 recipient of a $1500 per year award for four years.
Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf, the potential for future contributions to the game, leadership skills and community involvement, then on their academic/professional ability and financial need. Completed applications must be emailed/mailed to the scholarship committee, on or prior to June 18, 2022.

When searching for scholarships on the internet, the Federal Trade Commission cautions students to look and listen for these tell-tale signs of scholarship scamps:
"The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back."
"You can't get this information anywhere else."
"I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."
"We'll do the work. You just pay a processing fee."
The scholarship will cost some money.
"You've been selected by a national foundation to receive a scholarship" - or "You're a finalist" in a scholarship you never applied for.
