Monday night, the 7th-12 grade band and choir students performed their Winter Concert in the High School Auditorium. The holiday themed music was a great way to get into the holiday spirit for the last week of school before Christmas break. The Sheldon High School students have had some great real world experience over the last few weeks by participating in "Mock Interviews" with local businesses in our Financial Literacy class. Financial Literacy is a graduation requirement for all Sheldon High School students. During this course students learn money management and career readiness skills. Topics include taxes, checking, saving, investing, paying for college, types of credit, managing credit, insurance, budgeting, and careers. Each student in the course is required to do two job shadows and a mock interview. The mock interview gives each student an authentic learning experience of presenting themself to a potential employer as the best candidate for their business. Community members are invited in to assist with mock interviews. Their constructive criticism helps our students be successful in future interviews. This semester we want to send a thankyou to Rosenboom, NCC, Citizens State Bank, and Sheldon Economic Development for stepping in as our interviewers for our students. #LeadOn #Orabs #Sheldon #careers

Daily reading groups are a big focus at East Elementary. Students participate in whole group learning and assignments, but each day teachers will pull different reading groups to work with their students in a small group setting. Small-group instruction provides opportunities for differentiated learning. With the smaller number of students, students have more chances to answer questions and read aloud. FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16 there will be NO SCHOOL. A decision on evening activities will be made later.

Shout-Out to the Boys' Basketball Team for helping organize and pack food for the Back Pack Program for our Elementary and Middle School students. After school on Wednesday the team spent time helping staff get the bags ready for the holiday break. We are thankful for their help, as well as our local donors and the Food Bank of Iowa that help make this program possible for some of our families in our district. #LeadOn #Orabs #Sheldon

Sheldon Schools will be starting two hours late on FRIDAY, December 16, 2022. No AM Preschool.

No evening activities at Sheldon CSD today, December 15th. The elementary concert will not take place tonight, Dec. 15th in the HS Auditorium. Girls/Boys Basketball @ Sibley-Ocheyedan scheduled for tonight has been postponed. Make-up date Thursday, December 22.

Reminder that the Elementary Christmas Concert for 2nd and 4th grade is tonight! December 15 - 2nd & 4th grade Concert, 7pm HS Auditorium Please have your musician dress up for this event. Students will meet at 6:30pm the night of their concert. A high school classroom will be assigned for each section to use as a homebase. This will be where you can drop off and pick up your child. This is also where they can keep their hats and coats. The youngest grade will begin promptly at 7pm. Once they are done there will be a short intermission before the older grade level performs. #LeadOn #Orabs #Sheldon #concert

ANNOUNCEMENT The 7/8 Grade Winter Concert has been rescheduled for Monday, December 19, at 5:45 in the high school auditorium. Students should report to the band/choir room in the high school by 5:15. After the 7/8 concert, the auditorium will need to be cleared to make room for our high school families who are attending the high school concert at 7:00. If you have students in both concerts, please be sure to exit to pay the admission fee for the high school portion of this evening. #LEADON #Orabs #Sheldon
