Sheldon Middle School 5th and 6th grade students traveled to Denison to participate in Book Bash! Students read a list of selected books ahead of time and then teamed up to answer questions based on their reading. A big thank you to Wil George and Christie Seivert for taking the students to the event. In Sheldon’s first year attending, the Orabs came home with a trophy — congratulations on an outstanding job! May is School Board Recognition Month, and this year’s theme is “Because of You.” Because of our dedicated school board members, students have the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. As the final week of school wraps up at Sheldon High School, students are encouraged to finish the year strong by preparing for final exams. A good night’s sleep, time spent studying, and starting the day with a healthy breakfast can make a big difference in helping students stay focused and confident during testing. Due to the potential of severe weather, the Ministerial Association has made the decision to cancel Baccalaureate, scheduled for this evening.

Sheldon High School students attended the Build My Future event hosted by the Iowa Lakes Corridor at the Clay County Event Center.
Students had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of career paths through interactive, hands-on experiences. Career fields included automotive, law enforcement, emergency services, military, manufacturing, construction, culinary arts, hospitality, healthcare, information technology, trucking and logistics, energy, and many more.
This event gave students valuable insight into future career opportunities while allowing them to connect with industry professionals and learn about the skills and training needed in today’s workforce.

The Sheldon High School eSports Mario Kart team has qualified for the State eSports Competition! The team will travel to Marshalltown next Tuesday, May 19, to compete in person against some of the top teams in the state.
After a season of hard work, practice, and preparation, the Orabs have earned the 4th seed out of 12 qualifying teams — an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to their dedication and teamwork. Sheldon High School National Honor Society celebrated their senior trip with a fun-filled day at the Mall of America. Students enjoyed spending time togethers shopping, and sharing a meal at the Rainforest Cafe. The trip was a great opportunity for seniors to make lasting memories and celebrate their hard work, leadership, and dedication throughout their high school years. Way to go Orabs!

Congratulations to Levi Molettiere on an incredible accomplishment! Levi broke the Sheldon Middle School 7th grade 200-meter dash record with an impressive time of 25.74 seconds. The previous record of 26.00 seconds was set by Jake Crowl back in 2002 — a record that had stood strong for 24 years! What an amazing achievement and a moment to remember. Great job, Levi!

Congratulations to Orab Senior Bella Michels on earning 1st Team All-Conference honors in girls golf this spring! Bella had an outstanding season, finishing with the 4th lowest scoring average in the conference. Her hard work, consistency, and dedication on the course have truly paid off.
