Our students participate in many hands on learning activities and labs in their science classrooms. Mr. Anderson's Chemistry class made ionic compounds from the combustion reaction of magnesium. Students had to put the products through multiple tests to see if they had similar properties to ionic compounds. They also tested the melting point and conductivity of the product. Students were able to compare and contrast different products and their relations to ionic compounds as a result of this lab. #leadon #science #orabs

Last spring, the middle school students had the opportunity to enter a design contest to design the 22-23 school planner. To enter, the students must include the theme for the 22-23 school year, "I Can See the Leader in Me" as well as the date and the school name. 20 Middle School students entered this contest last spring in hopes that their design would be selected to be the front cover of the 22-23 school planner. The Middle School teachers then vote and narrow down the entries to the top 4. From there, the students vote on their favorite of the 4 designs. The 22-23 School Planner Designer Winner was Renesme Bonea! Her design can be seen each day as students fill out their assignments in their daily planners. #LEADON #Orabs #planner

Students in Mrs. Dibbet's Math Classroom have been reviewing their division skills over the lasts few days. The students got to enjoy a fun review game, "Bump It" with a partner to get ready for their upcoming test. We are thankful for our teachers who come up with fun ways for our students to practice and improve their skills.

Cool fall days like today are perfect to get comfortable and cozy up with a good book. Students in Mrs. Sandbulte's 1st grade classroom partnered up today and read to each other around the room. Tonight would be a great night to cozy up with your kids and read to them or listen to them read. Reading with your kids nightly can help them become more successful students. #LEADON #orabs #reading

Our High School Biology students spent today doing a macromolecules lab with real world application. The students had to analyze "stomach contents" to see what was in the last meal that the "person" had before they passed away. **stomach contents were simulated to make this lab possible** #LEADON #Orabs

Our Middle School students focus on habits throughout the year. The habits are based on the book, "The 7 Habits of High Effective People" by Stephen Covey. The TA groups got together to discuss Habit 2, "begin with the end in mind" Students practiced using this habit by putting puzzles together without seeing the pictures or the box. This was a great activity for students to practice the habit as well as learning to work with others to achieve a common goal. #LEADON

At the High School our commons are used many times throughout the day for breakfast, lunch and study halls, but during class hours you can spot teachers using the commons for extra classroom space to spread out and work with their students. Mr. Letsche's Foundations of Geometry class spent the class period working on their assignment on angle relationships in the commons. #leadon

Our Middle School students get to participate in weekly science labs to practice their understanding of the science concepts they are learning. The 7th grade students are working on a water lab this week in class. In the lab process students hypothesis, test their hypothesis, record results and report back on their findings. We are fortunate to have a full science lab at our middle school building. #leadon

6th grade science has been learning about the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells, as well as the parts of each cell. Today the students presented their cell models to their classmates and the 5th grade class. These students did an AMAZING job with creating their models as well as explaining the different functions and parts of the cell. Great job 6th grade! #LEADON #Orabs #science #middleschool #cellproject

"Team Up With a Good Book" was the theme today at East Elementary. Students participated in reading activities in their classroom throughout the day. Each classroom also had a high school reader come read a story to them. The afternoon was spent out at the high school football field where students participated in different activities and watched a video on the new scoreboard where the high school students explained to them why reading is important! Overall, "Team Up With A Good Book" was a great day! #LEADON #ORABS #reading

1B and 3B students at East Elementary read together every Wednesday afternoon. First graders proudly read their word cards and books to their third grade buddies. Third graders are great role models and leaders as they listen to students and help them solve any tricky words. Seeing the the friendships grow throughout the year is so powerful! “Reading Buddies” is definitely a highlight of the week for many students! #Leadon #Reading #ORABS

Friday, Sheldon will host the first home varsity football game on the new turf field using the new scoreboard. If you have been by the field, you can see the new scoreboard is a big improvement from what we used to have. This scoreboard allows for video footage. With the addition of the new scoreboard and features, some of our students are able to learn how to run and help with the programing of the scoreboard for game night Mr. Maggert has been working with students, teaching them how to use the new program and to help run the scoreboard on Friday night. We are excited for Friday night and for everyone to see all of the new features that Orab Field has to offer. We hope to see you at the game tomorrow!
