Kindergarteners reviewed their number recognition with a fun Turkey review activity before Thanksgiving break. Kindergarteners have been working hard to learn all of their numbers 1-20 by recognition, counting, grouping, writing and sorting the numbers in various ways. Before long they will be adding and subtracting basic facts!

In P.E our Kindergarteners have been learning and practicing their dribbling, passing and shooting skills in their basketball unit. Mr. Fischer has been working on the fundamentals of basketball in P.E over the past few weeks with the Elementary students. It is amazing to see how far our students have come in their dribbling and shooting in just a few short P.E classes! #GoOrabs #LeadOn #Sheldon #PE #Basketball

Did you know that East Elementary is a 1-1 School? This means that each of our elementary students, K-4 has their own device to use at school for different learning assignments, research and assessments. Some of the things our students do on their devices allow for teachers to see immediately how the students are performing, teachers can easily tailor work at different levels for specific students, students can each actively engage in the lessons and students are able to learn the valuable computer skills that many of them will need in their future careers. #LeadOn #Orabs #technology

Preschool students at the Little Orabs Learning Center are currently doing a pumpkin study. They made a pumpkin salt painting using glue, salt, and watercolor paints! The pumpkin was drawn on the page and students had to put the salt and glue on the lines and then paint the pumpkin. This was not only a good way to help our students see what happens when you mix the glue, salt and paint, but it was also great way for our students to practice their fine motor skills. Didn't they do a great job? #Orabs #LeadOn #Preschoolactivity

You can find students spread around the room reading and talking about their books during partner reading time. This is one of the 3rd graders favorite parts of reading rotations. Partner reading is a great way for students to work on their fluency, as well as their social skills, as they talk with their partner about what they are reading in their book. #leadon #orabs #reading

Our third graders practiced improving their reading fluency this week by performing a Readers Theater for their classmates. Readers Theater is a story that is broken down into "parts" that are read by each student in more of a play like structure. Readers Theater helps students with fluency, speaking skills, comprehension and engages those that get the opportunity to listen. Great work Third Grade. #LeadOn #orabs #reading

4th Graders got a little competitive in their reading review game today. Students played Gimkit as a way to review some of the skills that they had been working on in reading class. Gimkit shares questions on each of the student's screens, once answered correctly they earn "money" and depending on what game setting in Gimkit, the money can be used for various things to help move the individual student to the leader board in the class. Students love getting to review with this game. #leadon #orabs

3rd graders went on a mystery scavenger hunt during library class. Students practiced looking for mystery books throughout the library. They've practiced searching for books before, but this time Mrs. De Zeeuw and Mrs. Freymann added a twist—students had to hunt in the dark with flashlights to find the correct books. #leadon #orabs

East Elementary is continuing to focus on the book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," the book by Stephen Covey to help our students develop their leadership skills throughout the year. Second grade students practiced Habit 2, "Begin with the End in Mind" with groups this week. Students were asked to create a paper chain out of one piece of paper, that reached a specific distance. Students were not given instructions on how many circles they needed, rather they were to work as a group to decide how they could create a paper chain, that met the requirements. Our students worked well as a groups through this activity practicing their leadership skills. #leadon #orabs
