1st Grade Students had a reward day on Friday for their great FAST Reading scores this fall! As students arrived to their classrooms, they received their ride bracelet and a set of Mickey or Minnie mouse ears. Students spent their day full of Disney themed learning activities. Students went on a virtual tour of all the Disney world parks, played Disney Trivia, sorted Disney nouns, helped Buzz Lightyear shoot down alien attackers in a math subtraction game, practiced spelling with Lightning McQueen's letter lot, and students helped the 101 Dalamations escape Cruella in a heart word reading dash. Such a fun reward day in 1st grade for their hard work and focus on their tests! #leadon #orabs #1stgrade

Kindergarten students have been working hard to learn and understand their numbers. Students have practiced writing, counting, using numbers to represent the days of the month and how many days of school we have had. The students are also starting to get the basic understating of adding to and taking away from numbers 1-10. Great work Kindergarten! #leadon #orabs #kindergarten

The 4th graders at East Elementary have teacher read aloud time throughout the week. They are currently listening to their teachers read the book, "Out of My Heart" by Sharon M. Draper. Teachers take time to add read aloud time into the day to help model and improve reading skills such as reading with expression and fluency for their students. Reading aloud to students, no matter the age, can help them grow a love for reading. #leadon #orabs #reading

Dr. Driggs and Dr. Hoogland, two optometrists from Sheldon, came in and did vision screening for our East Elementary students today. We appreciate Dr. Driggs and Dr. Hoogland for taking time to do this for our students. #leadon #orabs #eyecare

Miss Sidney from Siouxland Agriculture in the Classroom, visited the second grade classrooms this week. She taught the students about foods grown and produced in Iowa. Miss Sidney comes monthly to our second grade classrooms to teach our students more about agriculture. We look forward to seeing her each month! #agriculture #orabs #leadon #2ndgrade

Happy World Teacher's Day to our teachers at Sheldon! We have an amazing staff that goes above and beyond to help our students succeed, have fun, learn and be safe while they are in our buildings. Today and EVERYDAY, we thank you!

Kindergarten students went on a field trip to Northwestern College in Orange City to see the children's play, " Frank Einstein and the Antimatter Motor" The students loved the play and they even got to do a meet and greet with the actors in the play, which the students thought was AMAZING! After the play the students went to the park to eat lunch and play with their classmates before heading back to school for the afternoon. #leadon #orabs #kindergarten

The AM and PM Preschool classes took a field trip to Solsma's Pumpkin Patch today! Our students got to peel flint corn to see the different colors that corn can be, we even found one that was orange and black for the Orabs! Students also got to walk through the patch, learn how pumpkins grow and change colors, learn about the different types of pumpkins, touch some pumpkin vines and pick out their own little pumpkin to take home with them. Preschool had such a fun day at the Pumpkin Patch! #leadon #orabs #pumpkinpatch #preschool

Students in TK started their "Fall" unit this week. Students have been learning about all of the changes that happen during fall. These students are participating in center time where they can learn a little more about their unit topic in different ways. Students rotate to different activities to learn more about fall as well as practice skills they are working on in class. #leadon #orabs #TK

A bunch of hard working farmers showed up for school today at East Elementary. Students and staff got to dress up like farmers today for Homecoming! We thank all farmers for the work they put in each day. We hope everyone has a safe harvest season!

Congratulations to Mrs. Meendering for being selected at the McTeacher of the Month. She won $100 to use towards her classroom from McDonalds. Congratulations and thank you to Mc Donald's for this opportunity for teachers in our area.

Our preschool students at the Little Orab Learning Center get to enjoy the dress up days for homecoming this week. The students loved getting to see how silly their teachers, classmates and their own outfits were today for "Mix Match Day!" #leadon #orabs #preschool

East Elementary is selling Sheldon Orab stickers and bracelets this week before school until gone. They are $1 each. The stickers work great for water bottles and the bracelets are perfect for school spirit days.

Cool fall days like today are perfect to get comfortable and cozy up with a good book. Students in Mrs. Sandbulte's 1st grade classroom partnered up today and read to each other around the room. Tonight would be a great night to cozy up with your kids and read to them or listen to them read. Reading with your kids nightly can help them become more successful students. #LEADON #orabs #reading
