2nd Grade had some fun in the snow this week sledding at recess.
Sledding at recess is one of the student's favorite things to do once there is snow on the ground!

In P.E our Kindergarteners have been learning and practicing their dribbling, passing and shooting skills in their basketball unit.
Mr. Fischer has been working on the fundamentals of basketball in P.E over the past few weeks with the Elementary students. It is amazing to see how far our students have come in their dribbling and shooting in just a few short P.E classes!

Did you know that East Elementary is a 1-1 School?
This means that each of our elementary students, K-4 has their own device to use at school for different learning assignments, research and assessments.
Some of the things our students do on their devices allow for teachers to see immediately how the students are performing, teachers can easily tailor work at different levels for specific students, students can each actively engage in the lessons and students are able to learn the valuable computer skills that many of them will need in their future careers.

Preschool students at the Little Orabs Learning Center are currently doing a pumpkin study. They made a pumpkin salt painting using glue, salt, and watercolor paints!
The pumpkin was drawn on the page and students had to put the salt and glue on the lines and then paint the pumpkin. This was not only a good way to help our students see what happens when you mix the glue, salt and paint, but it was also great way for our students to practice their fine motor skills.
Didn't they do a great job?

Kindergarteners have learned so much in the first quarter of the school year.

Before long, these students will be reading!
Way to go Kindergarteners.

Reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 4.
Enjoy the day off and we will see you Monday!

You can find students spread around the room reading and talking about their books during partner reading time. This is one of the 3rd graders favorite parts of reading rotations.
Partner reading is a great way for students to work on their fluency, as well as their social skills, as they talk with their partner about what they are reading in their book.

Our third graders practiced improving their reading fluency this week by performing a Readers Theater for their classmates.
Readers Theater is a story that is broken down into "parts" that are read by each student in more of a play like structure. Readers Theater helps students with fluency, speaking skills, comprehension and engages those that get the opportunity to listen.
Great work Third Grade.
