Sheldon Middle School Homecoming Dress Up Days
September 26-30

The Middle School will be selling Homecoming Buttons starting Friday, September 23- Friday, September 30 (or until gone) in the commons from 8:00-8:20 AM for $1 each.

Last spring, the middle school students had the opportunity to enter a design contest to design the 22-23 school planner. To enter, the students must include the theme for the 22-23 school year, "I Can See the Leader in Me" as well as the date and the school name.
20 Middle School students entered this contest last spring in hopes that their design would be selected to be the front cover of the 22-23 school planner. The Middle School teachers then vote and narrow down the entries to the top 4. From there, the students vote on their favorite of the 4 designs.
The 22-23 School Planner Designer Winner was Renesme Bonea!
Her design can be seen each day as students fill out their assignments in their daily planners.

High School Homecoming Dress Up Days
September 26-30

Students in Mrs. Dibbet's Math Classroom have been reviewing their division skills over the lasts few days.
The students got to enjoy a fun review game, "Bump It" with a partner to get ready for their upcoming test.
We are thankful for our teachers who come up with fun ways for our students to practice and improve their skills.

Preschool Picture Day and Picture Retake Day will be on Friday, September 23rd.

Our Middle School students focus on habits throughout the year. The habits are based on the book, "The 7 Habits of High Effective People" by Stephen Covey.
The TA groups got together to discuss Habit 2, "begin with the end in mind" Students practiced using this habit by putting puzzles together without seeing the pictures or the box.
This was a great activity for students to practice the habit as well as learning to work with others to achieve a common goal.

This week at Sheldon Community School District
**Picture Retakes/Preschool Pictures are on Friday!

6th grade science has been learning about the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells, as well as the parts of each cell.
Today the students presented their cell models to their classmates and the 5th grade class. These students did an AMAZING job with creating their models as well as explaining the different functions and parts of the cell.
Great job 6th grade!

Our middle and high school students have had some exciting activities this week. The Middle School P.E class spent time practicing their water sport skills with canoeing and paddle boarding. Thanks to our bus driver John Jinkinson for letting this class come out to his pond for this activity.
The high school had the Army National Guard bring in their rock wall for students to climb while also discussing the opportunity of joining the guard.
Thanks to all who help make these experiences possible for our students!

Mrs. Vogel's class went and visited the Clay County Fair today.
The students got to ride the rides, pet some animals and even got to watch the horse show. Our students had a great day experiencing the fair!

Students in Mrs. Nilson's ELL class discussed the events of 9/11 and what happened in the United States 21 years ago. After their discussion they wrote letters to first responders thanking them for what they do for us and our country. This was a great way to practice and use their English writing skills.
This is a great reminder for all of us to thank those that serve and help our country and area daily.

7th Graders in Mrs. Woelber's class have been reviewing their number sense skills this week. Groups rotated around to different review stations to review their skills in preparation for their test. Having students up, moving and reviewing with hands on activities is a great way for them to practice and retain their skills.

School Pictures can be ordered starting today.
Emails will start going out today with the link to order or you can order using the link below. You will need to know your student ID number (it came home on a note with the students)

Lots of hands on learning happening in Ms. Nordahl's 5th grade science class. The students have been practicing finding the mass of different items around the room as they begin their measuring unit.
Way to go 5th Grade!

Sheldon Middle School students are learning all about color and design in art class. Some students are working on a "Drip Art" project while others are choosing to use color in designs already made. The creativity being shown by our students is amazing.
