Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of April each year. A huge thank you to our paraprofessionals for your incredible dedication and hard work. Your support makes a real difference in our students' lives and your guidance is instrumental to their success!
Sheldon Middle School 6th grade math class used proportions to find out how many sugar packets are in our favorite drinks. It was an eye-opening project!
Sheldon Middle School 6th graders learned about different carbon molecule arrangements. One pattern will make a diamond and the other will make graphite.

March 3-7th, 2025, Special Olympics Iowa and Best Buddies are partnering for Inclusion Week to promote and celebrate inclusive efforts in schools and communities.
Sheldon Middle School 6th graders learned to calculate the density of various liquids in science class. First they had to measure a specific volume and then find the mass of the liquid.
Sheldon Middle School 8th graders had a great time completing a Poetry Escape Room!
Sheldon High School students competed in a space design competition at SDSU. Their task was to design and pitch the first major settlement on Mars- a port city called Argonom.
Students are given a press release describing the task in a very general way and a request for proposal (RFP) with much more detail when they arrive. They were responsible for designing a city for 1500 full-time residents and 2500 transients, including the structural design, operations and infrastructure, human factors and safety, and automation on a planet with relatively no atmosphere, intense dust storms and winds, and 1/3 the gravity of Earth. They had 21.5 hours to complete this task, and many students worked all night. Their final products were impressive!

Rachel, Gage, and Jordan were on the company that won the bid. Rachel and Gage were invited to participate in the national competition at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida this July!

Sheldon Middle School students attended the Sergeant Floyd Region National History Day Competition at Northwestern College in Orange City, on Tuesday, March 11.
The annual competition allows students to conduct original historical research on topics of their choosing and present their findings in creative formats like documentaries, exhibits, performances, websites, or historical papers.
Thank you to Shelby Vogel Mestnik! She presented to 8th grade students via Google Meet about becoming a doctor. Shelby is a SHS graduate and is now a pediatric oncologist!

7th and 8th grade wrapped up their Pickleball Unit with the Annual Pickleball Championships. Taking 1st place was Ike Thiner for 7th, and Makaiah Vermeer and Andie De Groot for 8th!
