Today was Pajama Day at the Middle School, which made for a comfy start to the week! Although the students came in their pajamas, they were ready to learn and have some fun today. Our 7th and 8th graders got to enjoy a reward activity for their hard work during the first few weeks of school on their essential skills. The students got to enjoy a variety of tailgating games for their hard work. Our 6th graders spent time learning more about the digestive system in humans through some hands on digestion activities and then created their own diagram of the system. Way to go Orabs!

Last spring, the middle school students had the opportunity to enter a design contest to design the 22-23 school planner. To enter, the students must include the theme for the 22-23 school year, "I Can See the Leader in Me" as well as the date and the school name. 20 Middle School students entered this contest last spring in hopes that their design would be selected to be the front cover of the 22-23 school planner. The Middle School teachers then vote and narrow down the entries to the top 4. From there, the students vote on their favorite of the 4 designs. The 22-23 School Planner Designer Winner was Renesme Bonea! Her design can be seen each day as students fill out their assignments in their daily planners. #LEADON #Orabs #planner

Our Middle School students focus on habits throughout the year. The habits are based on the book, "The 7 Habits of High Effective People" by Stephen Covey. The TA groups got together to discuss Habit 2, "begin with the end in mind" Students practiced using this habit by putting puzzles together without seeing the pictures or the box. This was a great activity for students to practice the habit as well as learning to work with others to achieve a common goal. #LEADON

Our Middle School students get to participate in weekly science labs to practice their understanding of the science concepts they are learning. The 7th grade students are working on a water lab this week in class. In the lab process students hypothesis, test their hypothesis, record results and report back on their findings. We are fortunate to have a full science lab at our middle school building. #leadon

6th grade science has been learning about the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells, as well as the parts of each cell. Today the students presented their cell models to their classmates and the 5th grade class. These students did an AMAZING job with creating their models as well as explaining the different functions and parts of the cell. Great job 6th grade! #LEADON #Orabs #science #middleschool #cellproject

Our middle and high school students have had some exciting activities this week. The Middle School P.E class spent time practicing their water sport skills with canoeing and paddle boarding. Thanks to our bus driver John Jinkinson for letting this class come out to his pond for this activity. The high school had the Army National Guard bring in their rock wall for students to climb while also discussing the opportunity of joining the guard. Thanks to all who help make these experiences possible for our students!
