We will be having a 1-hour early dismissal for Parent Teacher Conferences on the following days:

Thursday, November 2
Wednesday will still a 1 hour early dismissal like normal.

Fishing in Math!
8th graders in Mrs. Woelber's math class worked on proportions by determining how many fish were in their lake by tagging fish and then recapturing them.
They set up proportions for 3 different trials to determine their totals and then talked about why their numbers weren't always the same and what might distort their data.

The 6th graders were able to test their survival skills!
6th grade students are reading the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. Matt Jurgens, with Osceola County Conservation, came to give the students some real experience with things that are happening in the book. Mr. Jurgens had three Survival Skill stations for the kids to try, cord making, atlatl throwing, and fire starting.

7th graders at Sheldon Middle School had a special Instagram Influencer visit with them this week.
The 7th graders just finished reading some articles about internet influencers in class and were lucky enough to have one come and speak to them yesterday.
Katie Koenecke, known for her life coaching and influencer work with Scooters, talked about her job as an influencer and what it takes to be in the business.

5th graders tested salt with different particle sizes to see if the size of the particle affects the amount of time it takes to dissolve in water in one of their science lab this week at Sheldon Middle School.

The day might have been rainy and dull, but color was flying at Sheldon Middle School!
Middle School students participated in their Color Run this afternoon. Prior to the Color Run, students raised money in the forms of sponsorship for their participation in the Color Run, equaling over $40,000. This money will go directly to funding student activities, field trips and more.

Students in 8th grade health class worked on learning more about each other and how we are alike by completing a hexagon activity. Students were able to connect their hexagons and see how they were alike or different from their classmates.
The final student connections can be seen in the hallways at the Sheldon Middle School.
